Johnjo O'Neill junior made it third time lucky at Punchestown this week when guiding Dead Right to victory in the concluding bumper this evening.

The Neil Mulholland-trained gelding was produced to lead turning for home in the two-miler and stuck on well in the closing stages.

4/5 favourite Next Destination couldn't live with the raider in the closing stages, going down by four-and-a-half lengths.

O'Neill, carrying the colours of JP McManus to victory, had had two rides on the opening day of the meeting.

“I'm delighted, it was a decent race,” said Mulholland.

“He got a little slight nick behind when he ran over hurdles and he missed so much time. I thought it would be a good place to come and teach him a bit more.

“We'll speak to the boss and see what happens now. He's a lovely horse and we're delighted with him.”
