Veteran Mick Charlie (7/1) registered a fourth career win today, landing Tramore's Tramore Medical Clinic Handicap Hurdle for owner Thomas Coughlan, trainer Declan Queally and jockey Jack Hendrick.

Hendrick, riding his sixth racecourse winner, is well-regarded in point-to-point circles with 63 winners and today made virtually all the running on the 12-year-old, who battled gamely in testing conditions to beat Toor Moon by 2.75 lengths.

Declan Queally junior later reported “Mick Charlie turned 12 today and is still running around the gallops with the young lads every day.

“He is a good old horse at this level, he has a mark of 91 over fences so could go back over them. He'll probably find it harder over hurdles now but is a good sound horse whom we like.

“Jack is a brilliant rider — I've been riding against him in point-to-points, he is class and is a very talented rider.”
