Give Her Bach (9/2) landed plenty of bets when keeping on stoutly to land the opening two mile maiden hurdle at Tipperary.

Pierce Gallagher had the six-year-old mare in the front rank throughout. She was swinging away on the outer of Emily Sinico on the turn for home. She grabbed a narrow lead at the second last from Sharlanda who looked a major threat.

A fluent jump at the last allowed Give Her Bach to get first run from Etesian (7/1) who stayed on and pressed her to the line. She had to give best though by three parts of a length. Sharlanda couldn't go with the front two on the run-in and was two and a half lengths away in third at 25/1.

Owner/breeder/trainer Pa Cronin said: "It's great to get the extra 5,000 bonus [ITBA National Hunt Fillies Bonus Scheme]. She's a bit high in the handicap over hurdles and we may go over fences.

"Fast ground is the key to her. We might find a mares beginners' chase. I'd love to go to Punchestown as she's a real family horse, but I wouldn't say there would be much for her there."

Emily Sinico, the 15/8 favourite, weakened out of contention before the second last.

The winner was backed from 7/1 to 4/1 during the day.
