Curtis brilliant on Shareen in Oaks

Ben Curtis excelled on Shareen in the European Breeders Fund Coolmore Stud Ulster Oaks Fillies Handicap as the daughter of Bahri prevailed by a comfortable length and a half.

Making all, Shareen, from 6Ibs out of the handicap, was asked to assert a furlong and a half out and she soon had matters under control. Mid Mon Lady came through for the second but she was never going to get to the winner.

'Slim' O'Neill, representing John Oxx, said: "We have no real plans. She is improving, she likes the fast ground and she seems to like racing. I must give great credit to Ben, it was a great front-running ride.

"She was very highly strung filly but she is settling the whole time."

Shareen is owned and bred by the Aga Khan and his other runner, Daliyra representing Michael Halford, was backed from 3/1 into 15/8 but she could only beat one home in fifth place.

Ben Curtis is the stable apprentice at Currabeg now.

Shareen meanwhile was making it three wins in a row here as she took her maiden at Killarney in May before following up at Leopardstown.
