Donnacha O’Brien is considering a couple of options for Porta Fortuna following her narrow defeat in the Qipco 1000 Guineas at Newmarket on Sunday.
The daughter of Caravaggio’s four wins last year included the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot and the Group 1 Juddmonte Cheveley Park Stakes in Newmarket before winding up her two-year-old campaign when second in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf.
She was sent off an 11/1 chance on her reappearance in the first fillies classic on Sunday when only beaten a neck by Elmalka.
“She ran a cracker and I was delighted. Everything went perfect and she ran a big race. She arrived back about nine o’clock this morning and everything seems perfect thankfully,” said trainer Donnacha O’Brien at the Curragh yesterday.
“We are going to aim her at Ascot and may come to the Curragh on the way,” he added.
“If she seems in good form and the ground looks like it is going to be nice we may take our chance at the Curragh and if it looks like it could be slow ground or if we want to give her a bit more time we’ll go straight to Ascot.”
