The first division of the GAIN The Advantage Series Handicap resulted in victory for Feature This (15/2).

Trained by Paul Flynn for Ian Brassil and Brian McInerney, the five-year-old was making a quick reappearance after finishing fifth at Roscommon on Monday evening. Fourth turning for home, she soon improved to challenge and wore down the front-running Ferrybank close home for a neck success.

A four-time winner at Dundalk, this was a first victory on turf for the bay daughter of The Gurkha.

“I was talking to Paul earlier and he was fairly confident,” said winning rider Dylan Browne McMonagle, who was completing a double after winning the opener on Scorthy Champ

“I rode her in Roscommon the last day on soft ground and I thought she ran well for the conditions. It was a quick turnaround but I didn't beat her up the last day when I knew she was beat.

“Paul is a topman to have them in good shape and his horses are flying at the minute. I'm delighted for the connections as well.

“She won well and I thought I won with plenty up my sleeve. She just gets there and does enough. A strong gallop suited and I only really had to ride the race to beat Ferrybank on the pace as he was always going to keep going.

“I didn't want to get there too soon but I always had the horse to time it right.

“She loves nice ground. They were a little bit worried if she'd stay any further than a mile but I think the way she got to the line today, and galloped out well, that she'd have no problem going a mile-and-a-quarter.

“She's fairly versatile the way you can ride her, you can take your time if you were to step her up in trip. Hopefully she can keep stepping forward.”
