Roscommon Mon, 20th May, 2024 Granite Bay It's great that he followed (up). We were a bit concerned about the ground, we were hoping for a few showers during the day and were debating about whether we'd run him or not. Ronan said he'd be comfortable on good ground, but we just feel that he's a horse that would like to get his toe in. He is a bit big and immature yet. He's a work in progress, he seems to be improving and we're delighted with him. Ronan said it was plenty quick enough down the back straight for him which is unusual here. He said when he met the rising ground he was more comfortable on that. He will handle good ground when he matures a little bit more. It's great that he's won two and fingers crossed he's progressing. We'll keep him to the normal handicaps, he's only coming up through the ranks and learning his job. He's after having two quicks runs so we won't be looking for anything immediately with him. We'll freshen him up a little bit, it's a long season still ahead of us. |
Cork Fri, 10th May, 2024 Granite Bay It was a good day's work and is my first double. In the last few years since Jennies Jewel won at Royal Ascot, I've concentrated more on the flat and have 10 in training. That number keeps us busy and today was great. We were concerned about how he'd handle the drier ground but Ronan said he'd handle it and he gave him a great ride. . He has a good staying pedigree and we think the more he goes up in distance, the more he'll improve as the year goes on. |
Cork Fri, 10th May, 2024 Grand City Hall It was his first run back, he was fairly straight and had three runs last year so knows his job,. For a lad who has had a few runs he was a little green when he went to the front. . He is forward-going, six or seven (furlongs) is his trip and is a very easy going horse. Hopefully he can improve as the season goes along. We were glad the ground dried out as he needs top of the ground and his dam (Clonville) was the same. . He is bred by my wife Suzanne and is by a local stallion to us The Irish Rover in Sweep Lane Stud, who has a good strike-rate. He is a son of No Nay Never so was the cheap way of getting that bloodline. |
