FormscanBy Gary Carson - A competitive looking contest and MELBOURNE LADY may prove the answer. She has emerged with plenty of credit from her last two starts having been set tough assignments. She lost little in defeat when chasing home the classy Little King Robin at Punchestown and again ran well behind smart rivals when third to Morning Run at Down Royal. That form has been boosted since with the runner-up Carrigmoorna Rock landing a Listed prize in England in some style. The selection looks to be progressing and is fancied to defy a mark of 120. Love On Top went up 6lb for a good win at Gowran last time and should still be competitive off this mark. She perhaps didn't get home at Clonmel previously and the two miles on this big galloping track should suit. She is fancied to confirm placings with the second and third then Dantes Firth and Good As Gold. The runner-up remains on the same mark so is actually better off with Good As Gold, who is a pound higher. Dantes Firth has been third in a maiden hurdle since and was behind Annagh Haven then. That rival is better off on handicap terms now so if she can repeat that performance she'd have a big shout. Pleased As Punch ran well on her last visit here when chasing home Daigreen and off a feather weight she is another to consider.

Any horse rated above 123 shall initially be treated as having that rating and the highest weight allotted shall be 11st 10lb. Subsequently, the excess over 123 in any rating shall be added to the weight allotted to that horse. (For the purpose of this note, any four year old rated above 123 shall have the applicable weight for age allowance then prevailing deducted from the horse's rating prior to the original calculation of the handicap)
