FormscanBy Donal Murphy - SHALAMAN has a good record around Killarney and another solid effort can be expected from him here. He hasn't finished worse than second on three previous visits to the Co Kerry venue and he won over the course and distance last July. He makes his debut for Matthew Smith now and with Leigh Roche taking three pounds off he can be expected to give a good account of himself. The Denis Hogan (former trainer of the selection) trained Ridestan is an obvious danger. He won over the course and distance last month and followed up at Galway on his last start. He went up eleven pounds for that comfortable success and Conor Hoban takes three pounds off his back here. Pirates Cove finished third to Ridestan at Galway and he since disappointed at Ballinrobe. He wears a visor for the first time now and it will be interesting to see how he gets on. Handicap debutant Bazaar is another to consider for Aidan and Joseph O'Brien while Solar Focus can't be ruled out carrying just eight stone eleven.

Penalties - (after calculation of the handicap) A winner shall carry 5lb extra for each race won Any horse rated above 80 shall initially be treated as having that rating and the highest weight allotted shall be 10st. Subsequently, the excess over 80 in any rating shall be added to the weight allotted to that horse. (For the purpose of this note, any three year old rated above 80 shall have the applicable weight for age allowance then prevailing deducted from the horse's rating prior to the original calculation of the handicap)
