FormscanBy Michael Graham - This two mile trip is certainly SHIELD's distance. He hasn't been as effective when asked to tackle two miles three and upwards. The way he comfortably won in Killarney means that too much shouldn't have taken from the tank. If he travels as well here as he did in Kerry then that will be a major bonus as it is of enormous benefit to travel well on this track. He should win this race, but he does have to give weight away to all six rivals. Queen Alphabet in receipt of 7lbs looks particularly dangerous. Peter Fahey's mare has hurdle victories in Kilbeggan and Sligo to her name. She was a classy bumper horse, taking fifth in a 20-runner Listed Aintree bumper in April. There should be more to come from her over hurdles even though she is rated 10lbs inferior to the selection. Damefirth and Rich Coast were both successful in maiden hurdle races last-time out. Improvement will be needed, but they represent powerful stables and cannot be ruled out of contention.
