It looks significant that Pat Smullen sides with the progressive CARLA BIANCA and she looks the one to follow. The Dansili filly completed a hat-trick at Gowran Park last time with a commanding performance to beat Alive Alive Oh in what looked a very hot listed contest. She looks on the upgrade and there should be more to come from her. Stable-mate Afternoon Sunlight lost little in defeat against an experienced and classy colt in Parish Hall in the Meld Stakes here last month and despite having to carry a 3lb penalty for a Group 3 success in the Guineas trial at Leopardstown she looks a leading contender. English raider Odeliz ran well here when fourth in the Group 2 Kilboy Estate Stakes last month. The front two have disappointed since but it looked a decent race on paper that day and she isn't without a chance. Palace has established herself as a solid performer at this level and is sure to run another big race. She was only beaten three-quarters of a length by the selection at Naas in June but the feeling is that Carla Bianca has progressed since. Pearl Of Africa was far from disgraced in Group 1 company in the Pretty Polly at the end of June and returning to action here in what looks more her grade she has to have a shout. She had been a good winner of a Listed race at Leopardstown previously and could get involved for the placings here.
