FormscanBy Eamonn Murphy - Back in 2011 John 'Shark' Hanlon's Ardglen failed to bring up a quick four-timer on the corresponding Sligo card, when second. The County Carlow-based trainer turns out another of his inmates this year, NEAREST THE PIN, in a bid to extend what has been an industrious few days. At Worcester just last Friday, Nearest The Pin demolished his rivals in an extended two mile handicap chase. Tony McCoy rode the Court Cave gelding on that occasion and he came home an unflattering ten lengths to the good from Surf And Turf, with hot favourite Dealing River only third. Hanlon has described Nearest The Pin as "a bit of a rogue" in the past but there's no doubting that he was on his best behaviour for that win five days back. A repeat would give him every chance of defying top-weight in this featured Martin Reilly Motors Santa Fe Handicap Chase. More pertinently Hanlon also said prior to the Listowel Festival, when a bad mistake counted against Nearest The Pin, that "if he won one I think it could crown him." Likely still on a high following the All-Ireland Hurling success of his beloved Kilkenny on Saturday evening, Hanlon will be hoping that the good times continue to roll. Brian Hayes takes the reins on the selection now and he could be able to cope with Cavite Beta, Plan A and the previous course scorers Sean Airgead, Churchfield Champ, as well as the lightly weighted Mitebeall Forluck. %0A
