Curragh Sat, 20th Apr, 2024  Crystal Black It's great to get it. It was his first run and we didn't know about the ground for him with ten stone. We had him ready early this year for the Lincoln but he got a setback before it. He probably would have needed the run in the Lincoln anyway so it maybe worked out better. We're hoping he's a black-type horse, that's the road you'd have to go I think. There are a couple of big handicaps on Guineas weekend and one in Cork, but that's over seven and it might be a bit sharp for him. He won over a mile-and-two here on Champions Weekend.

Cork Sun, 31st Mar, 2024  Tranquil Sea For a short priced favourite maybe you'd expect him to do it better than that but he was careful over his hurdles. He has been careful in his early races but has warmed to things and obviously his last few runs were better. Sean said he had plenty horse under him going to the line though and it is nice for the owners Anne and Jim Coffey and Susan, who are brilliant supporters of ours. We have had a frustrating year for them but it is nice to get one on the board. We bought him off Richard O'Brien (trainer), who has been lucky for us and we've had a good association with him. He wasn't expensive and was originally bought for a four-year-old bumper but I didn't have the patience to hold on and wait. Thankfully today has worked out and he could end up running in a decent handicap at some stage.

Dundalk Fri, 2nd Feb, 2024  War Correspondent The last day was a non event, he stood in the stalls and the race was over. Lucky enough we were in last today which was a big help. His three runs before that were very good and I thought one day he might just come good. He's after running around 20 times on the Flat and has never won. Dylan said he was going to keep it simple today. He said if he came out, he would ride him real positive. If he fell in a hole up the straight, so be it. He stayed going. To win five lengths, I couldn't believe it. That was a 95 handicap - there was only one horse rated over 95 and the rest of them were in the 80s (and 70s), but he won well. He's basically running away here until he gets a bit of nice ground to go back over jumps. He wants good ground. He has a wind issue, so he gets away with it on nice ground. As soon as the weather dries up, he will go back over hurdles. He's a fine big horse and great to get his head in front.
