The Clerk of the Scales reported that Marco Ghiani, the rider of Carmela Soprano (GB), placed second, had weighed in at 8st 6lbs having weighed out at 8st 4lbs.
The rider, the trainer's representative, the Clerk of the Scales and the rider’s valet were interviewed.
Marco Ghiani was suspended for 3 days and the trainer, J R Jenkins was fined £650 as they had both contributed to the overweight.
Shortly after the 2 furlong marker, Carmela Soprano (GB), placed second, hung left despite the riders best efforts, causing Hiroshi (GB), placed fourth, to be briefly crowded for room, but after viewing a recording of the incident it was found that no riding offence was involved and it had not improved the placing of Carmela Soprano (GB).
Following the race, Shane Kelly reported that Restricted Area (IRE), placed third, slightly missed the break and was short of room after the start.
