An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference on the run to the line when the winner, Mohaafeth (IRE), ridden by Jim Crowley, interfered with Roman Empire (IRE), placed second, ridden by Ryan Moore.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved Mohaafeth (IRE)’s placing as prior to the incident Crowley’s mount appeared to have got the better of Roman Empire (IRE), and in their opinion did not believe that Roman Empire (IRE) would have beaten the winner, which always appeared to be holding his lead.
Crowley was suspended for 6 days for careless riding for allowing his mount to shift right-handed away from the whip, taking Roman Empire (IRE) off its intended line, and thereafter Crowley allowed his mount to continue drifting right-handed towards the rail, causing Moore to have to take a check and switch his mount off the rail.
Following the race, Frankie Dettori reported that Snapraeterea (IRE), placed fourth, ran too free.
