Permission was given for Desert Mist (IRE) to wear a red hood to post and for Spartakos (GB) to wear a red hood to post and be mounted on the track.
It was noted that Spartakos (GB) wore earplugs which were removed at the start.
Spartakos (GB) unseated its rider on the way to the start and cantered loose for a short time.
The gelding was examined by the Veterinary Officer and the rider was examined by the Doctor, and both were deemed fit to race.
Approaching 2 furlongs out, Favourite Niece (GB), placed sixth, hung left onto Iron Sheriff (IRE), placed fifth, which in turn crowded Desert Mist (IRE), unplaced, and caused that rider to ease, but after viewing a recording of the incident it was found that no riding offence was involved.
Approaching 1½ furlongs out, the rider of Aquamas (IRE), placed fourth, took a check off the heels of the quickly weakening Garnock Valley (GB), unplaced, but after viewing a recording of the incident it was found that no riding offence was involved.
Approximately ½ furlong out, Sixcor (GB), placed eighth, hung quickly left taking So Grateful (GB), unplaced, off its intended line but after viewing a recording of the incident it was found that no riding offence was involved, and it had not improved the placing of Sixcor (GB).
Following the race, James Sullivan reported that Mac Mccarthy (IRE), placed seventh, was slowly away.
