Hayley Turner, the rider of the winner, Solent Gateway (IRE), was suspended for 2 days for using her whip above the permitted level from approaching the final furlong.
The winner, Solent Gateway (IRE), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Chester on 29 May 2021 where the gelding finished ninth of eleven, beaten by 9 ¾ lengths.
It was noted that Tom Dascombe could offer no explanation for the gelding’s improved form.
Solent Gateway (IRE) was routine tested.
Following the race, Silvestre de Sousa reported that Greatgadian (GER), placed third, became unbalanced 1/2 furlong out and Oisin Murphy reported that Patient Dream (FR), placed fourth, hung left-handed under pressure.
