Gift gets Fogarty off the mark
I'm delighted. He battled well to the line. He was unsold as a yearling and at the breeze-ups so the only option was to go to the track.
Batt & Orr make all at Bellewstown
I fancied her. I knew she was working really well. Oisin gave her a good ride - he's a good chap. I've had three runners here on the flat and three winners so it's a fair record. I actually rode my first winner here 47 years ago in hailstones on a horse called Truly Merry. This has been a great family for us and the fillies are very good. She has speed and we'll keep campaigning her in those five furlong races. She has great heart. I was worried about the ground but I'm not worried about it going home!
Beauty lands hat-trick for Condon
She's in a good vein of form,. She just needed the claim there. Andrew knows her from home and obviously rode her in the apprentice race. Everyone was happy to keep him on board and he did well. I'm delighted with her. She won her maiden here last year and course form is always a help. She's very adaptable ground wise and has won on soft and on good to firm at Navan. We'll keep her going while she's happy. She has a nice pedigree and will be a nice addition to the paddocks for the owners in time. Hopefully there is another one in her.
First double for Orr as Twist prevails
She's a lovely mare. Oisin was saying that she travelled so well. At the end when she went on and then something came up beside her she went on again. She was very happy and was going very easily through the race. Billy Lee said she would win on the flat. She's handicapped over hurdles and she can do both now.
Benkei proves tough for Smullen
That's why Pat is champion jockey. He was very good on him. It's great to get another winner,. He could go for the amateur race at Galway if it works out. He wouldn't run on soft or fast ground. We'll maybe look at the Cesarewitch later in the year. I think the fast pace in that would suit him. I thought he was beat but he battled well and he's earned his keep for a few days.
Heist springs surprise under Heskin for Griffin
Adam Short said he was working well. I walked the track on Tuesday and thought it would need all the rain it got to change it. He's ground dependent and wants top of the ground but got away with it as it was the first hurdle run. He makes the jockeys work but has ability and Adrian gave him a good ride. The plan is Perth on Sunday week, back over fences and we might mix it with him after today's win. That was our first winner in Ireland in a while.
