Going - Yielding, soft in places (round course); Good to yielding (sprint course). Overcast and windy
Quinine makes use of her experience
I've two two-year-olds in training and they've both won. My son in law Kevin Ross bought her at Newmarket. She's progressive and thriving all the time. She could be a good three-year-old., and we'll look at a nursery now in Dundalk. She seemed to like that ground, it was a bit faster.
Jack is now a King
He's enough ability to win a race like that, and his form has been good as he was third in a premier handicap at Tipperary. On his form he was entitled to win today. The John McConnell one coming out (Fiftyshadesofred got upset at the start) might have helped him. Ronan gave him a good ride, although the horse was idling in front. He's a Birdcatcher horse if he gets into that race, he's up to that standard.
Dream winner as McNamara rides out claim
That was a very important winner as Emmet has now lost his claim. That was one of our targets this year. It is the first winner for the syndicate (RMS Racing) and there are nine of them, mainly from Dublin and Kildare. She had plenty of weight and needed Emmet's 3lb claim. She's been very honest all year and looked a million dollars today. She'll go for a nursery in Dundalk either over six or seven furlongs, she can certainly win over six. There is a lot of Group horses coming out of Dundalk, and Aidan (O'Brien) is copping on to there now.
Elusive win for the Express
She had to pop up someday and Chris was very good on her. He had a bad draw but used his head to come down the outside. She'll go to Dundalk for a mile race, and has been unlucky in a few maidens.
Foley doubles up on Honour And Obey
Annie goes all the way to number 1
She's very consistent and was entitled to do that. She was due her turn. Colin is a great young kid and he was always going to be a good jockey. The owner, Albert Douglas, is a farmer and a neighbour of mine. His father Bill had horses with Jim Dreaper.
Cannon blows away the bookies
He was very light last year but he's stronger now and has improved since his summer break. The plan is to go for the Lartigue Hurdle at Listowel although two miles might be a bit sharp for him. I didn't think he was going to get into this race. He's always shown plenty, he jumps well and won a maiden hurdle here as well.
