Mayo For Sam That's his 5lb gone(Caffrey claim), he gave it a great ride as we were drawn wide,. I suppose Mayo had to win something at some stage!. They are a bunch of Mayo lads that have her and they are a great bunch of lads. They stuck with her as she was a little but frustrating starting off. We ran her on tacky ground and she didn't handle it. She's run well on her last two runs and ran a cracker here the last day. We were drawn a little wide and I just told Adam to jump out and get forward, try to ride a race on her and dictate it as best you can. She toughed it out well. She's in at Leopardstown on Thursday and more than likely she'll rock up again if she gets in.
Fairyhouse Fri, 7th Jun, 2024
Current Option Class is permanent and form is temporary! It's been a while since he won but he ran a great race in the premier handicap at Cork (last month), where he finished fourth,. We ran him in the Curragh the last day where he was drawn right out on the wing and he got very upset in the stalls and he ran very freely. He was in good form and we just felt that Fairyhouse would suit him, around a bend, that he'd be able to relax and drop it, which he did. Adam gave him a good ride, he was very cool on him. The plans for the boys are that they're always over for the end of July and that's where he'll go. I'll see what the handicapper gives him and we'll try and get him into those two big handicaps in Galway. If he's going to get in off his current mark I'll leave him but if not I might have to run him again. He's a horse of a lifetime and you just don't get many horses like him.

She's Smart She's an English import and she had a very good run in Newmarket last year in a maiden. She got a very high rating. I ran her in a claimer because Jim (Fairhurst) was going to sell her, we just didn't think she was worth keeping because she was so high. The handicapper gave her a chance, he dropped her 7lb I think from her last run. She did surprise me today believe you me. She did show a good attitude and Adam gave her a good ride - they went very hard and he took his time with her and let her take her chance to come home. She came home well. She'll get another day somewhere along the line, fingers crossed.

Distillate Distillate had slipped down the handicap which is a huge help to horses like these, as they always go to a level and then they struggle. It is only when they come back down that they get competitive again and she had come back down to 65 today, which made her competitive. We stepped her up (in distance) and he gave her a good ride as he had to kick when she did as she travelled very easily. She just held on but were in front where it matters. we'll potter away in similar races and the boys (Devlin, O'Hare and Smith) are from the north of Ireland and love running horses up in Down Royal. Actually I had Distillate in at Down Royal last weekend but I forgot to declare her, as I messed up my phone! I told them we were running in Cork instead so it was all for the good!
