FormscanBy Tom Weekes - PILBARA has ability, stamina and can win. A course winner when landing a sizeable gamble over hurdles here last July, PILBARA progressed to be a 120s hurdler and while beaten a long way at Ayr last month, that was his reappearance, is nicely experienced and runs on a suitably sound surface for a yard doing well. Listed bumper winner Blackhillsofdakota was himself a useful hurdler who was second, beating Cuneo into third, on chase debut at Kilbeggan 13 days ago. Blackhillsofdakota similarly likes summer ground and while trying this distance for the first time, should get the trip having run well over Kilbeggan's 2m6f. Cuneo is winless from 10 chase starts and might bump into a few too strong. Fully Charged races behind-the-bridle but is likely to be suited by today's first try at 3m over fences. He is top rated at 129, with his rider claiming 5lbs, but might find a few too strong. Friary Rock was a useful staying hurdler but reappears on chase debut against experienced types. Ballinaboola Steel is a four-time hurdle winner who stays well but debuts over fences, on his first run since January, aged nine.
