Magnor Glory brought off a big gamble in division one of the two mile one handicap hurdle in Wexford with a dominant display.

The five-year-old gelding could be backed at 22/1 this morning and plummeted down to 7/2 favourite on the off.

In truth the money looked safe once he worked his way to the head of affairs after three out.

He tanked clear of a hard at work Master Cornwall approaching the final bend. He kept increasing his lead before two out and jumped that flight well.

He wasn't foot perfect by any means at the last but Mikey Hamill could afford a look his shoulder to try and spot the opposition.

He won by a whopping 16 lengths from Outside The Door who was also gambled on down to 5/1. Master Cornwall dropped nine and a half lengths further back in third at 4/1.

Trainer Terence O'Brien said: “Unfortunately his part-owner Barry Walsh died a few weeks ago. He was a cattle dealer and a very well-known man from Rathpeacon in Co Cork. I’d say half the country backed him.

“This is the first horse he had with me and he died sudden. It was a sad event. It was great that he was able to win for his family today.

“He has been a very difficult horse to train. He is a very hot horse and we tried him with the hood. The hard work early on has paid off with him now. He did that very well and I’m delighted with him. He will go for something similar now.

“Joe Sheahan is his other owner and he has another runner in a point-to-point later so we will see how that one gets on.”
