Big Baby Bull built upon his Irish debut to bag a decisive victory in the seven furlong premier handicap at the Curragh.

He won two races in Britain for Richard Hannon, and was gelded before finishing fourth at Leopardstown last weekend on his first start for Denis Hogan.

In today's assignment, he travelled strongly for 7lb-claimer Joey Sheridan and improved to lead inside the two pole.

He powered home in the final furlong and won snugly from Current Option (in the first-time hood) who did his best work in the closing stages.

There was a length and a quarter between the 11/1 winner and 13/2 runner-up. Tommy Taylor (9/1) and Flash Gordon at 12/1 came home third and fourth respectively.

Joey Sheridan said: “He’s come on well from the run in Leopardstown and fair play to Denis as his horses are in savage form.

“He goes well over seven furlongs but I think he’ll get a mile. We went a strong clip but I was behind the bridle the whole way and he really picked up for me.” Ice Cold In Alex the 4/1 favourite, was unplaced in 12th. Afterwards, Chris Hayes reported that his mount was hampered after jumping out of the starting stalls.
