The Kenmare (Ladies Pro/Am) Flat Race went to the well-supported Moulane West (16s into 17/2 on the show).

Liz Lalor was on board and made plenty of use of her mount, keeping tabs on long-time leader Lakota Nation before sending the Jet Away gelding to the front inside the final quarter mile.

The 5-year-old stayed on strongly to come home nine lengths in front of 5/2 joint-favourite Ultima Thule The other 5/2 joint-favourite Time Gents didn’t land a blow in seventh.

The winner had been a little over three lengths behind earlier bumper winner Dicebox (third) when fifth at Kilbeggan in April, before finishing sixth to the useful Banbridge over course and distance on his most recent appearance the following month.

It was a second winner for owner/trainer Richard Foley, who’s based in the townland of Moulane near Rathcormac, County Cork.

“He got into a bit of trouble the last day but things went a lot smoother today,” said Foley.

“Liz gave him a great ride and she has plenty of experience for these races. It was great to get her.

“He’ll probably get a small break now and in due course we’ll go down the hurdle route. He’s a brilliant jumper at home and it comes to him naturally.

“He wants good ground and is a typical summer horse.”
