Review CURRAGH 29TH JUN

Both Group races went for export at headquarters, with Tarfshi benefitting from a fine front-running ride by Philip Robinson to land the featured Hunston Financial Pretty Polly Stakes.

Robinson quickened the tempo entering the straight, and the 3L lead at this point proved vital as she held on by a diminishing 1/2L from Wrong Key.

Daliapour recorded an impressive victory in the IAWS Curragh Cup, smoothly striking the front over a furlong out under Michael Kinane to beat Quality Team by 2L.

Con Collins saddled a 194/1 double on the afternoon, with newcomer European upsetting hot-pot Catcher In The Rye in the 2yo maiden.

Pat Shanahan had the son of Great Commotion up with the pace throughout, and he stayed on well under pressure inside the final furlong to touch off the 1/2 favourite by a short-head.

'He's been working well at home but I thought he might need the run. The Tattersalls Breeders Stakes is the main objective back here in August,' said Collins.

The veteran local trainer doubled up when Bella Bella made all in the valuable 7f fillies handicap, sent clear a furlong out by Timmy Houlihan to beat Caeribland by a cosy 1 1/2L.

Nashwan Rose returned to form in the 10f handicap, leading inside the final 1/4m for Pat Smullen to beat Ceol Na Sraide by 2L.

Weld later explained her disappointing run last time in the Italian Oaks saying, 'The ground was very firm, and it was a really humid day. She will go to France in two weeks time for a Listed race at Maisons-Laffitte.'

The Smullen/Weld combination also landed the 1m maiden with de Laroche, who was all out to deny Hasina by a head.

The Rosewell House trainer was upbeat about both his Budweiser Irish Derby runners, and is hoping the weather remains dry for In Times Eye.

'In Times Eye is a very good horse, and I think he will run a big race. But don't rule out Jazz Beat as he could surprise a few people if getting the trip,' said Weld.

Michael Grassick was another Curragh trainer on the mark with Embassy Belle in the 30 runner 7f handicap, leading close home under Niall McCullagh to beat Desert Hill by a neck.

'The faster ground was a big help to her, and she may run again at Bellewstown next week,' said Grassick.
