Gloucester doubled his career tally when running out a convincing winner of the Kilminfoyle House Stud Nursery at Fairyhouse for Donnacha O'Brien.

Paddy Harnett took the ride again on the Ten Sovereigns colt and having initially bounced out to lead in the six-furlong contest he was content to take a lead off Sanshiro

The 3/1 shot grabbed the lead again a furlong-and-a-half from home and stayed on well in the closing stages to post a two-length win over Velvet Skies

Gloucester had won at Cork in testing conditions last month before finding trouble in running when fourth at Navan 16 days ago.

“He's been super to me. He's an absolute legend of a ride, very easy, and I got a lovely spin around on him there,” said Harnett.

“Dec (McDonogh) made it, I just sat half a length down on him and kept it simple. He was good and hardy and on that ground he came out the hardiest of them.

“I think it just took him a while to learn things. Obviously in Cork the ground was unraceable and we ploughed through it that day, travelled lovely and quickened up nicely. He was green in front and did plenty of running around.

“He didn't get a great ride the last day! Thanks to Donnacha and the owner for putting me up again today and it paid dividends.”
