Harry Rogers is finishing the Flat season with a flourish as he has often done and Grann's Boy was another winner for the Ardee handler in the first division of the Galway Races Summer Festival 2024 Handicap.

Placed over 1m2f on his previous couple of outings, the 4/1 chance tracked the leaders before forging to the front inside the final furlong under Adam Caffrey to see off Special Protector by half a length.

Rogers said of the Zoffany gelding who is owned by the Nap Racing Syndicate: "He's not a bad horse, is only a three-year-old and I think he is a nice type. The further he goes the better he'll be and he'll be a nice hurdler who'll go jumping next February or March.

"There's a whole family in the syndicate who are from outside Athlone and one of them lives here just outside Galway so it's great. Adam rode him the last twice but that's his first winner for me."
