A switch to the outer paid dividends for Young Fitzy in the Kelly's Of Borris Rated Novice Chase at Tramore.

He was in a pocket in fourth on the rail approaching two out, so Jack Foley brought him out to deliver his challenge in third at that fence.

He was soon ridden in second and swept past a weakening Top Line Tommy before the last fence.

The seven-year-old gelding stormed away by six lengths to reward favourite backers at 15/8. That's Lifebuoy (9/4) got up for second by a neck from Top Line Tommy.

Declan Queally said: “He just slotted in lovely with his hurdle rating (of 109). I was suspended today so Jack rode him and gave him a class ride. The horse jumped great.

“He’d a lot of schooling done as a young horse with Mick Goff and had all that point-to-point grounding.

“The lads (Bitter Sweet Syndicate) are from Galway.”
