Dartington recorded a quick short-priced double for Gordon Elliott at Navan this afternoon when claiming the second division of the two-mile maiden hurdle.

Davy Russell tracked the leaders on the 3/10 shot before moving up to challenge at the third last.

The Siyouni gelding was in front when jumping slightly left at the penultimate flight and despite being a bit guessy at the last he went on to record a two-length win.

It was a second outing over timber for the five-year-old who had won twice on the Flat in England for Marcus Tregoning.

“Davy said he hated the ground every bit of the way. He took a bit of a chance at the last but sure we had the second so we weren't too bad!” said Elliott.

“I'm very happy with him and he's a horse that will run on the Flat as well, we've got plenty of roads to go with him.

“He's a fun horse and we'll have a bit of craic with him.”
