Dundory gained a first career success at the Curragh today as Tony Martin's gelding picked up €6,000 for winning the Paddy Power Handicap, 24 hours after failing to sell at an online auction for €10,000.

Dundory, a half-brother to Group 1 winner Laganore, finished second on his previous start at Cork in October but failed to make his €10,000 reserve at Goffs' online sale yesterday and today scored a short-head win under 5lbs claimer Dylan Browne McMonagle

The son of Holy Roman Emperor is declared to contest tomorrow's 3.10 race at Naas on Saturday, worth €9,300 to the winner, and following today's win, trainer Martin reported “he ran well the last day and it’s grand to get a win with him. We were on the right side of the bob today.

“He handled the ground well. He’s in again tomorrow and we’ll see how he is in the morning.

“He’s a half-brother to a good filly, Laganore, and Maurice Regan (of Newtown Anner Stud) is a good owner and deserves good luck.”
