Dark Street provided trainer Luke Comer with a bright moment at the end of a tough week when taking division two of the Christmas Party Nights Bookings Are Open Handicap at Dundalk.

The Estidhkaar gelding, also successful over this same course and distance last December, was switched left well over a furlong out and finished with great effect on the far side.

Chris Hayes’ mount just got up on the line to pip Numidia by a short-head with the front-running Deluga Chop keeping on gamely just a nose further back in third in a fantastic finish.

Comer’s assistant Jim Gorman said, “No (not winning out of turn as down in handicap) and Chris gave him a great ride. We are very happy.

"Whatever it is, he just doesn't jump out of the stalls well."

Comer was recently given a three-year suspension following an IHRB investigation into prohibited substances found in samples from his horses, although he is appealing various elements of the decision.
