Andy Oliver has given a positive update on Bright Stripes' work ahead of his bid for Classic glory in the Tattersalls Irish 2,000 Guineas this weekend.

The Starspangledbanner colt showed an aptitude for the mile trip in the Curragh when staying on strongly to win the Listed Tetrarch Stakes by a length earlier this month.

After saddling a winner at Navan on Saturday, Oliver said: "He is well, worked this morning, so he is still on target to go for the Irish Guineas.

"We were worried about ground (in the Tetrarch) and rode him a bit differently. When I watched the first race again at Leopardstown, I thought he came out a bit fresh and a bit gassy.

"I just asked Billy (Lee) to take a hold of him and he gave him a super ride. I really liked the way he picked up.

"He is working well since."
