Onwards and upwards for Taquin Du Seuil

Taquin Du Seuil could aim to get his season back on track in either the Charlie Hall Chase at Wetherby or the Paddy Power Gold Cup at Cheltenham.

Having rounded off a fine novice campaign with a Festival success in the JLT Novices' Chase, the seven-year-old made his return in a well-contested event at Newton Abbot earlier this month, but he was beaten a long way into third place.

Trainer Jonjo O'Neill is confident his charge can bounce back from that disappointing start to the campaign, with a trip to West Yorkshire on Saturday week or Prestbury Park on November 15 his two most likely options.

"He was disappointing on the day, very disappointing on the day, but he's come out of the race fine and he seems in good form," O'Neill said.

"They didn't go a great gallop in the race, this is me making excuses for him, but he didn't really get into a good jumping rhythm and he probably needed the race at the wrong time. He blew up and was getting his second wind when it was all too late.

"He came home a fresh horse and it's onwards and upwards from here, hopefully.

"We might have a look at the Paddy Power or the Charlie Hall with him.

"We'll see how he is in the next couple of weeks, make our minds up and go for one or the other."
