Aidan O'Brien and Colm O'Donoghue were the big winners at the Curragh Racing Awards ceremony for 2014.

The gongs were given out at L'Officina Restaurant in Kildare Village and it was unsurprisingly O'Brien who landed the Irish Daily Mail training performance of the year having won two of the eight monthly awards.

May and June were O'Brien's most profitable months with wins for the likes of Magician, Adelaide, Marvellous and The Great War while Australia strolled to victory in the Irish Derby.

O'Donoghue picked up his award for a great ride on Bracelet in the Darley Irish Oaks.

O'Brien was also the leading trainer at the track with 35 winners, including five at Group One level, while his son, Joseph, was leading jockey being successful 25 times.

Three special merit awards were handed out to Sabrina Harty, who saddled seven winners with an astonishing 44 per cent strike-rate, Fran Berry, who returned from injury to ride at the top of his game, and Willie McCreery after he secured his first Group One win when Fiesolana landed the Matron Stakes on Champions Weekend.
