The Aidan O'Brien trained Adelaide has drawn stall 13 in the 14 runner Sportingbet Cox Plate at Moonee Valley on Saturday.

The 3-Y-O son of Galileo was already at somewhat of a disadvantage as he must technically race as a 4-Y-O in the southern hemisphere but that has been compounded by a wide draw on the tight Moonee Valley circuit.

Adelaide who will be partnered by Ryan Moore in the €2 million Group1 contest has been well supported in the antepost betting and is currently second favourite behind local hope Fawkner (stall 4).

Adelaide will be Aidan O'Brien's first runner in Australia since the infamous 2008 Melbourne Cup when the front running tactics of his horses were brought into question by the Australian stewards.

O'Brien should know what it takes to win Australia's second richest race as his former inmate So You Think was twice successful in the Cox Plate ( 2009 and 2010) when trained by Bart Cummings.
