Tom Mullins will drop Alderwood back down in trip for the Fortria Chase at Navan on November 9th.

A dual winner at the Cheltenham Festival, he missed most of last season through injury.

Mullins has stepped him up in distance recently with a degree of success as he finished fourth in the Kerry National with a big weight and was still travelling well until a mistake two fences from home at Punchestown behind Don Cossack last week.

"It was a confusing race, he appeared to be still travelling sweetly but he hit the second-last hard and stopped," said Mullins.

"We're thinking of going back to two miles with him, for the Fortria, that's the plan at the moment.

"He's really well and has come out of the race well.

"I think he's really come back to himself and since Listowel I've been really happy with him.

"I just think if we go back to two miles with him we'll know where we are."
