David Marnane has his fingers crossed that Seanie puts his best foot forward when he lines up for the South Western Scrap Metal Handicap at Listowel on Friday.

The five-year-old is a decent performer on his day but can throw in the odd poor performance which can have his trainer scratching his head.

The better Seanie was in evidence last time out when he was a close third to Strait Of Zanzibar at Naas seven weeks ago, just a week after putting in a disappointing display at Galway.

"He's got a good enough draw (five) and has a chance, but he's a funny horse," said the County Tipperary-based handler.

"On his day he can compete with these boys all right, but it depends whatever Seanie shows up."

Joint top-weights on 9st 12lb in this 18-runner handicap are David Wachman's Hint of A Tint and the Mick Halford-trained Slipper Orchid.

Beau Satchel, fourth in a seven-furlong handicap over this course on Tuesday, has been declared by trainer Adrian McGuinness, while other interesting runners include Jim Bolger's Wexford Opera and Have A Nice Day from the in-form Sabrina Harty stable.
