Officials at Punchestown are expecting the ground to ease slightly ahead of next week's Festival meeting, which kicks off on Tuesday.

The track is currently reported to be good to yielding with racing manager Richie Galway anticipating a possible 20 to 30 millimetres of rain through the week.

He said: "We're in great shape and conditions have been very kind to us over the winter. The grass is way ahead of where it normally would be.

"The ground is on the slow side of good and we are in for an unsettled week with April showers and sunny spells predicted.

"By the time we get to the weekend the ground will be a bit slower than it is now which will leave us in a good position for next week. If the forecast is correct, I don't think we will be starting with anything worse than nice, soft jumping ground."
