- Stewards Report
Luke McJannet was fined £650 for doubly declaring Yuften (GB) to run in the ‘Bombardier British-Hopped Amber Beer Handicap Stakes (Class) 4’ at Wolverhampton and the ‘Bombardier British-Hopped Amber Beer Handicap Stakes (Class 4) at Southwell’, and the gelding ran in the latter.
Salateen (GB), drawn 9, anticipated the start and accelerated the gate at the same moment as the race had been started.
Being satisfied that it was not caused through a faulty action of the starting stalls, no further action was taken.
The winner Baby Steps (GB) appeared to show an improvement in form compared with its previous run at Wolverhampton on 12 October 2020, where the gelding finished tenth of thirteen runners, beaten by 9¼ lengths.
David Loughnane’s explanation that Baby Steps (GB) appreciated a freshen up from a 87-day break, was noted.
The gelding was routine tested.
Following the race, Adam Kirby reported that Salateen (GB), unplaced, moved poorly and the Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding failed to reveal any abnormalities.
