B.T. O'Connell, rider of Barbalicious, trained by J.H. Culloty, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount ran into serious interference when leaving the back straight which was caused by general bunching and was of no fault of any individual rider. The Stewards interviewed D.F. O'Regan, rider of Perrie Hill, concerning his use of the whip in the latter stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that D.F. O'Regan was in breach of R10(3)(g) by using his whip with his arm above shoulder height and consequently cautioned him having taken his clean previous record into consideration. G.N. Fox, rider of De Danu's Bach, trained by V.C.Ward, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount jumped out to the left at the last hurdle in the back straight and when straightening up was unable to hold her position because of congestion when meeting the running rail and ran out through the rail. The Stewards acting under the terms of Rule 196 (v) fined M.J. Bolger, rider, ?200 for failing to present himself at scales to be weighed out for his mount on First Warning (GB), trained by E. McNamara in this race. The Stewards allowed S.W. Flanagan to substitute for M.J. Bolger on First Warning (GB)
