Under the provisions of Rule 90 (iii), the Stewards allowed Surrounding, trained by M.Halford, to run on receipt of the trainer's written assurance that the horse was correctly vaccinated in accordance with Rule 91
The Stewards requested a report from Richard Fahey (in GB), trainer, as to the apparent improvement in form of Zap (GB), placed first, as compared with its recent run. Aidan O'Ryan, representing Richard Fahey, reported that Zap was drawn on the outside of seventeen runners on his last run at York on the 24th August and did not get the run of the race. Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the content of the report
O. Murphy, rider of Burnt Sugar trained by Roger Fell (in GB), reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount did not get a clear run
