A query was raised to consider why Rod Millman was running Crazy Luck (GB) here at Salisbury on going described as Good, having declared the filly a non-runner at Salisbury on 21 August 2020 on ground with the same official description.
The trainer stated that the going was Good to Soft, Good in places at the time of withdrawal in August, before drying to Good by the day of the race and he was concerned that the ground may have been riding on the slow side, but with a drier forecast he was happy for Crazy Luck (GB) to take its chance on this occasion.
The winner, Rania (IRE), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Leicester on 10 August 2020 where the filly finished seventh of seven, beaten by 8¼ lengths.
Sylvester Kirk’s explanation that Rania (IRE) had benefitted from a change in tactics to being dropped in on this occasion, was noted; the filly was routine tested.
Following the race, Sean Levey reported that Bay Of Whispers (GB), placed second, was slowly away and Rob Hornby reported that Mariance (GB), which started favourite and finished unplaced, was denied a clear run.
