FormscanBy Alan Magee - ONE COOL POET is best remembered for winning three times at the Galway Festival in 2019 and Matthew Smith’s charge also landed a Premier Handicap at the Curragh on Irish Champions Weekend later that year. The nine-year-old has had some training issues through his career and, following a couple of runs on the Flat, was having his first run over hurdles since November 2018 when putting in a creditable effort here at Christmas. He remains on a very attractive mark over hurdles compared to his Flat rating. Island Mahee was placed three times over this trip before finding 2m4f on testing ground too far at Navan last time, while recent Naas winner Fou Diligence and Ballycaines are others to consider. The latter is a consistent Flat handicapper and on his last hurdle start trailed home here behind Honeysuckle in the Irish Champion Hurdle. Any market move for Brides Hill would be significant as the Gavin Cromwell-trained filly steps into handicap company after three maiden outings.
