FormscanBy Eamonn Murphy - We’ve come to associate Finny Maguire with Noel Meade’s bumper horses in recent times, so perhaps there’s some significance to see the Cork man aboard GOOD LAND for Barry Connell. It would be no great surprise if the in-form Connell team targeted a nice youngster at this event, and the movements of Good Land in the betting, will hopefully be revealing. Maybe it was just a case of Meade favouring a claiming rider like Michael Stenson for the spin on Hymie Weiss, and you’d be ruling out the Tu Va newcomer at your peril. Elsewhere and the likes of San Salvador is respected, with a run under his belt, but otherwise one could imagine plenty of focus zoning in on Grand Paradis and Sage Boat. The latter would probably only spark attention if strong in the betting. Meanwhile Jamie Codd presumably chose Grand Paradis ahead of Champagne Sparkles, and trainer of the pair, Gordon Elliott, will doubtless be hopeful of taking a major portion of the prize-fund.
