FormscanBy Tom Weekes - Very well bred SERPENTINE ran a shocker on debut at Galway last September but the presence of a Royal Ascot entry next Tuesday brings this horse into focus and he is a hopeful pick. He never picked up the bridle at any stage in Galway, was beaten 16L and beat just one horse home. Testing ground might not have been ideal then and while huge improvement is needed, it is notable Seamie Heffernan takes the ride and he is the only Ballydoyle runner in this with a Royal Ascot entry, meaning he has improved significantly at home since Galway. Dawn Rising was well touted in the Eyrefield Stakes last October before disappointing and has plenty to prove here, albeit on contrasting ground while Coventry needs to show far more than on debut here last September, albeit he still retains his Irish Derby entry. Lough Cutra has shown good form in two maidens which were won by smart types and while vulnerable to smart types, should get involved. King Of The Throne has a rating of 92 having run well in a Group 1 at Newcastle last year but was subsequently beaten in a maiden and is now tried in a first-time tongue-tie which isn't ideal. Galileo Chrome ran well on debut, beating King Of The Throne then, and can get involved as he is open to plenty progression. Cabot Hills now runs for Donnacha O'Brien but disappointed on his latest start and is vulnerable to smart types. Howey, which runs in a first-time tongue-tie, was a E140,000 yearling purchase and is very well related being out of a dam who is a sister to Holy Roman Emperor. Aiseirigh is from the family of Group 3 winner Light Heavy and could have nice ability.
