FormscanBy Tom Weekes - Everyone knows Ballydoyle newcomers improve for a previous outing but MERCHANTS QUAY could win on debut here, being the apparent pick of the yard's trio. The lockdown has held up many and the Ballydoyle trio appear in the week before Royal Ascot with MERCHANTS QUAY, and his stablemates, possibly having that meeting as targets next. MERCHANTS QUAY is a half-brother to a French Listed 2yo winner, hails from a good family and the presence of Seamie Heffernan is a positive. Admiral Nelson is out of a Listed winner, cost Stg440,000 as a yearling and could play his part while Irish Chief is out of a Group 2 winner who is very well related but is apparent stable third-pick on jockey bookings. Zoffany's Delight is a half-brother to a Group-placed horse and cost 120,000gns as a yearling so should go well while Puerto De Vega is a half-brother to two winners, cost 90,000gns as a yearling and could go well. There is clearly a reason for Lunar Space to carry first-time cheek-pieces on debut and the Bolger homebred, a half-brother to two useful winners, also passed through the sales ring when selling for E5,000 last October. %0A
