FormscanBy Eamonn Murphy - J P McManus puts up two against MONKFISH, and Colin Tizzard also has dual representation in a bid to stop a horse that seems to have had universal backing on the limited Cheltenham preview scene this year. Of course the inclination might be there to take on Monkfish at such a skimpy price, but really he’s done nothing wrong and is hugely exciting. The men behind Monkfish, breeder, Cyril O’Hara, a Westmeath native, and Wexford inhabitants, bloodstock agent Richard Busher, and point-to-point producer, Cormac Doyle, deserve plenty of credit. Obviously the chestnut has been guided through his career masterfully to date by Willie Mullins, and he can go a place better than his grandam Martomick. When this race was run under the Sun Alliance banner in 1994, Martomick found just Monsieur Le Cure too good, with some good horses in behind.
