Mr Jackman was made to work to justify his short price in the first of two bumpers at Gowran Park this afternoon.

Gordon Elliott 's charge was sent off a 4/9 shot to follow up on his debut success at Tipperary at the start of the month.

Having made the early running Jamie Codd was content to let James Hoban hit the front over six furlongs from home.

The Flemensfirth gelding had to be asked a few questions to pick up that rival just inside the final furlong but galloped on strongly in the closing stages to beat him by a length-and-three-quarters.

Elliott said:- “I’d imagine we will probably go jumping hurdles with him now.

“He’ll be entered in Galway for a winners’ bumper but if I was a betting man I’d say we will go jumping hurdles.

“It was a messy race but Jamie said he tries for you and that’s what you want. I’d say all he does is stay.”
