Tom Mullins is hoping his last season's Munster National winner Spider Web will get into the Thyestes Chase at Gowran later this month.

The J.P. McManus owned gelding won the 2018 renewal of the Munster National at Limerick before filling second place in October's latest renewal but was pulled up in the Paddy Power Chase at Leopardstown over Christmas.

However the nine year old returned to form when finishing third in a handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse on January 11 and trainer Mullins reports “if Spider Web gets in he’ll probably run. He ran a nice race over hurdles at Fairyhouse. He loves chasing - those Presenting’s love chasing.

“A horse has to be very fit and very brave to win any of those good handicap chases as they are full to the hilt. Leopardstown was too tight and he pulled up in the Paddy Power Chase.

“Oscar Knight is not in the Thyestes and he might go to Leopardstown.”
