Gordon Elliott reports Samcro to be fine after his fall in Fairyhouse yesterday and is looking at Christmas for his next outing.

The seven-year-old gelding fell at the second last in yesterday's Grade 1 Drinmore Novice Steeplechase when challenging Fakir D'oudairies, who was left clear to come in by 22 lengths.

Elliott said: “Samcro seems fine. He was running a good race and will go somewhere over Christmas. We were very happy with him.

“You couldn’t say he wouldn’t have won but once he’s ok that’s all that matters.

“Jack (Kennedy) thought he was cantering but a jockey is always going to say that!"

Ellliott's Envoi Allen maintained his unbeaten record with a length and a half victory in the Grade 1 Royal Bond Novice Hurdle, but not without incident.

The trainer said: “Envoi Allen got a little nick and there was a trickle of blood but he’ll be alright.”
